What better way to stimulate growth then to kill all previous owners’ ability to work with vista. This is probably because I have the play for sure firmware (2.10.3) installed on the Xtra. And voila, check your explorer, it should hopefully recognise the Zen Touch like windows xp would.
I finally got Vista to recognize the Zen Xtra by putting the Zen in rescue mode (hold the play button down and hit reset), and while in rescue mode, I connected I then pointed windows to the "c:\program files\creative" directory and finaly, Vista accepted the "legacy" driver. I am NOT using the 'Play 4 Sure' firmware update either! vs 3min last time. I just want my Jukebox 40gb to work. I've got a new computer with Windows 7 64-bit OS and now i can't seem to connect my Creative MP3 player with it.
However, if you download the XP driver and right click the installation file and select the Troubleshoot Compatibility heading and use the recommended settings to install the driver, then install the SO when I finally went to install my little friend on Vista, I was more than a bit saddened by the fact I had to use my XP machine to update You have no idea what a help this has been. Any suggestions?
However to date all the drivers I mention are still available (if you have lost your orignal cd or drivers.. Right click the driver installer again and Run as Administrator.
